This festival was held February 4-8, 2020, concurrent with UAE Innovation Month. This event also coincided with preparations for the UEA’s 50th anniversary, which will be celebrated in 2021, with a focus on future generations.

The NSTI Festival featured a global conference, student retreat, science fair, and innovation lab. The main event  was The Emirates Young Scientist Competition, which attracted 2,472 projects submitted by 5,791 male and female students from 427 government and private schools.

At the festival, students had the opportunity to interact with leaders from many fields, including technology, biology, environmental science, chemistry, physics, math, education, and social and behavioral science. Area9 presented learning technology initiatives, showcasing its fourth generation Area9 Rhapsode™ adaptive learning platform. Four adaptive learning workshops given by Area9 experts were attended by more than 100 students and teachers from across the UAE.

“As the UAE advances its digitalization strategy, learning and skill-building will take on increasing importance,” said Ulrik Juul Christensen, M.D., chairman of Area9 Group. “Leveraging the latest in technology and personalization through adaptive learning will help ensure that more people are ready to advance the Emirate’s economic evolution.”

In addition, Area9 awarded a student internship to learn more about adaptive learning and become a certified adaptive learning engineer through our Area9 U program.

“We’re pleased to offer these unique opportunities through our workshops and by sponsoring a student internship,” said Hania Baramki, managing director, MENA, for Area9 Lyceum. “We look forward to more collaboration in the UAE and throughout the Middle East.”
